Inside Natalie's Closet

It’s no secret that I love buying clothes for my children.

So every once in awhile I’ll be posting an entry on an outfit that they are wearing. It’ll mainly be my daughter seeing as my son does this when I ask him to pose for the camera:

I took the following photos on Father’s Day. Natalie is sporting an outfit from Gymboree’s Citrus Cutie line.

“Hey Natalie, how about we take some photos!”

Hmm. Not entirely thrilled there.

“It’ll be fun!”

Natalie doesn’t believe me. Just as most of America doesn’t believe a word BP says.

“Can’t you give me a smile?”

This is what she offered.

I started to do a silly dance and BEHOLD....

....but within a few seconds she was all, “Not funny anymore. You know what I want.”

What she wanted was for me to run into the side of the house.

Yes, I run into my home to get my kid to laugh.

But hey, it worked.

While doing it a neighborhood kid came over to see if Tommy could play.

“Tommy’s Mom,” she said, aghast. “What are you doing?”

“It makes Natalie laugh,” I offered and then BAM, side of the house against my cheek.

The kid mulled this over and then said, “My Mom just asks me to say cheese.”

Well fiddle-dee-dee.

After she was gone I had Tom come out to take photos with Natalie.

Tom doesn’t like to pose for the camera.

“Want me to run into the house for you?” I asked.

“I’ll pass,” Tom responded.

“By golly, I love my Daddy in his Chuck Norris shirt.”

Should I be insulted that she instantly smiles when Daddy is holding her? If I ask her to smile I have to smack into the house and risk getting a bruise.

She’s going to miss him when he’s in Korea…

Awww so cute. I have to risk bodily harm as well if I want my daughter to smile...

They are such gorgeous kids! And very well-dressed, too. :)

Too cute! Evie hates smiling for the camera these days too. Heck, she won't even look at it anymore. PS: where did Tom get his shirt? The Chuck Norris jokes are a huge hit in my house & my hubby would love one!

I can't decide if Tom's sunglasses are frightening or badass.

I'm leaning toward badass.

And if I could get away with wearing a skirt like that, I definitely would.

The Boob Nazi said...

At least you got a smile when you danced, though?

Mandy said...

years from now Tom is going to wish he took off those sunglasses!!

Sarah said...

Your kids are adorable! My husband has a Chuck Norris Tee too!

natalie is so cute.. and great pix of the two of them together too!

I really think you don't love your children enough. Or else you would have Natalie in kiddie pageants, running around like a prostitute on stage.

so, what I am saying, is that she is beautiful.

Love the shirt with the tutu! The things we do to make our children laugh... my daughter likes me to be dramatic and pretend to pass out...

Aww those were precious pics.

Oh! But when you get a good shot--it's magic! What an absolute doll!

Oh, the kids are adorable even when they won't cooperate.

I like how your husband is holding her on one arm. Cute!

I love "summer fruit" clothes for girls! Sweet!!

Intense Guy said...

Yeah, its going to be a long year without her "hero" around.

Thank you Natalie (who will never get that year back) and Amber and Tommy and of course Tom, for your sacrifice so that the USA is the land of the free.

LMAO @ you running into the side of the house to make her laugh.

She's a beauty.

LOVE the pictures....the color, all of it. And I'm so glad she is all daddys', too.

Cute pictures. You get an A for effort here. What we won't do for the sake of the blogs.

Dawn said...

Oh my gosh. Your kids are beautiful! Great pictures.

Beth Zimmerman said...

She certainly will and so will her mommy! Thank you for the sacrifices you make for the rest of us!

My son wears Check Norris shirts too! Kinda scary!

She is going to miss him terribly as all of you are. I love the yellow tutu. So cute. Almost makes me want a girl. Almost.

Stephanie said...

Gorgeous child! I love the tutus and want one for my daughter.

I am getting a kick out of how Tom has the exact same expression in all three photos :)

MysteryChick said...

she is just too darn cute for words. I have to ask though, how do you get her hair so neat. My poor daughter looks like we combed her hair with a blender. I'm worried people will think I don't love her!

blueviolet said...

She's just getting her fill while she can!

Running into the side of the house? I'll have to remember that one.

Natalie said...

Goodness your daughter is a stunning little girl! And that outfit? I want it for my girls now!!

The physical pain of others is ALWAYS funny. It's proof we've evolved from apes. She's adorable, though.

Jenn@the loves of jenn said...

She is so beautiful. I LOVE that outfit!

Stephanie said...

I still think you should have tried running into the side of the house and snapped a photo of Tom's expression. Gotta do something to get a smile on Daddy's face, too!

My husband refuses to take off his sunglasses for pictures. It drives me crazy.

Natalie's tutu/skirt is beyond adorable.

Such beautiful babies! I hate the damned deployment for a year. When Alex went, I was depressed for the whole time before he left. We'd just wake up in the early hours, look at each other and say "Oh My God! A year!" Sucks, Amber. Still, Baby, it's what they do.

Tracey - Just Another Mommy Blog said...

Sigh... she sure will. She looks like a real Daddy's girl.

RN Mama said...

It looks like she got her I-don't-smile-for-Mommy-look from Daddy!

I love her outfit, it's adorable! Here's what I hate about Gymboree though, all the cute tops are always in white! My kids can't wear white:( They are somehow attracted to chocolate and paint!

Natalie is just so beautiful. You should get her into modeling. :)

Phoenix Peacock said...

is it bad that in my late twenties I really just want a tutu like natalie's?

Tracie said...

Awww. I was looking at those pictures thinking "She's going to have to run into the house."

Sara said...

I'm so jealous of how good Natalie's hair always looks.

I love my mother, but she couldn't do my hair and it used to make me pitch a wild-ass tantrum.

Also, I'm very amused that Tom could easily be a cardboard cutout in all three of these photos. He looks the EXACT SAME. That's a gift.

Pat said...

I hope that Natalie finds something else quick to amuse her or else Mommy might knock the sense out of herself one of these times! :)

Does Tom think he's incognito with those sunglasses on? Nice try, but it's a no go.

Much More Than Mommy said...

She is about the most beautiful thing ever, and these companies should be paying you to put their clothes on that gorgeous girl!!! *So* sweet with her daddy! (And my younger daughter will only make faces at the camera right now too!)

Leah Rubin said...

Yeah, I can relate. You should see the things I do to make my grandson laugh! Yikes!

She's still super-darling, though! --and it's a great outfit!

Chuck Norris didn't read this blog- this blog wrote itself for Chuck Norris.

jayayceeblog said...

That dress is adorable and she really should be modeling professionally for these kids' clothing companies ... so cute! I think you should have Natalie take a picture of you running into the house so we can all see what it takes to make her smile like that!!! Great picture with her Daddy!

Ca88andra said...

Very cute kids! Now that my boys are older I find it more and more difficult to get them to pose for pics. Usually they just tell me to hurry up!

Kerri said...

What a beautiful little girl. I love those tutus.
The end made me tear. I'm a big Daddy's Girl...still...and I'm almost 33.

She is such a cutie pie! Now what in the world was it that you had to do to get her to smile?

Paging Doctor Mommy said...

Oh wait... I thought you had to run into the house, like run inside the house to go get something. I wasn't taking you for real when you said in you ran INTO the house... as in the SIDE of the house!

Steph said...

She's so cute! Even the the pics were she isn't smiling are cute.

These are awesome!

I burst out laughing because I noticed that Tom didn't move a muscle. NOT A ONE twitch in all those pictres with Natalie in different positions!

huginnmuninnandme.com said...

Love the outfit, and your pics are always so pretty! One thing confuses me... how do you run into the house and recover enough to focus while she's still laughing at you??!

She really does act like Daddie's squeeze.

Awww you will all miss him for sure!

wow she is so beautiful! please realize i do not say that lightly since I think my daughters are the most beautiful children ever, and if i tell other people their kids are beautiful it would be disingenuous, 'cause I know that no other kid out there could ever come close to my kids' own lovliness. But yes- your daughter is lovely too! there, I said it. PS chuck norris rocks!

jenn@peacelovemommy said...

beautiful children!

but i must insist on finding out where the Things you need to know about chuck norris shirt came from?

my husband was CN for Halloween last year. It was sickening scary look a like. I posted them on my blog a few weeks ago!
